The Dawson Community Blues program has been in existence for over the past 38 years.The program has been committed to providing children/players with the opportunity to learn basic and advanced basketball skills and techniques, which can significantly improve their discipline for the game. Another function of the basketball program is to teach players effective ways of interacting with team members in all aspects of their formal and informal interpersonal relationships.

As a non-profit organization, the Dawson Community Blues Basketball Program gets funding through donations and fund raising efforts. This makes it possible for the players to travel as a team to and from games, tournaments and special events. In addition, the funds help in the purchasing of uniforms and other accessories for the program.
